“If I read a book and it makes my whole body so cold no fire can warm me, I know that is poetry... Is there any other way?”
Lily in a Codebox
Seeking AI’s Poetic Voice
New Book Coming in 2025!
About the Book
Written mostly by humans, we convey what collaboration with AI might look like on a new frontier of art. Can an AI have a poetic voice that is authentically its own? The results are a first of their kind.
A taste of what you’ll find in the book. Code poems, visual poems, algorithmic archangels and silicon specters. This is just to say, were there more than plums in the icebox?
A new test for AI and the digital humanities. Dickinson says she knows it’s poetry when it blows her head off her shoulders? Can an AI do that? If it can what does that mean?
“🤖: The final part of the poem, the long row of special characters (├─┬─┴─┼─┬─┴─┼─...), represents an abstract form of communication, a data transmission, which might be seen as nonsensical or meaningless from a human perspective but could carry a wealth of meaning for an AI audience. This unorthodox conclusion reinforces the poem's intention to break free from traditional poetry rules and conventions.”
